O'Neill Continues to Raise Money at Record Pace
Wickliffe, Ohio (October 15, 2008) – Congressional candidate Bill O'Neill reported to the Federal Elections Commission today that his campaign had raised more than $120,000 in the latest fundraising quarter, just slightly behind seven-term incumbent Rep. Steve LaTourette.
The O'Neill campaign has now raised nearly half a million dollars. This campaign has more than doubled every previous LaTourette challenger, with more than 1,350 contributors.
While LaTourette outspent his 2006 challenger by more than six to one, O'Neill said, "This is a whole new ballgame for the Congressman."
Campaign manager Toby Fallsgraff said the difference lies in where the candidates were getting their funds. While more than 80% O'Neill has raised has come from individuals, 60% of LaTourette's funds come from special interest PACs.
"I think it paints a pretty clear picture of where these candidates put their priorities," he said. With less than three weeks to go, O'Neill said the voters are ready for real change in Washington.
"I'm humbled by the widespread support I've received from all over Northeast Ohio, and I look forward to fighting for them in Washington," he said.
