LaTourette Sticks With 'Stay the Course'
CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio (7/13/07) - Democratic candidate for United States Congress Bill O'Neill, who earned a Bronze Star for his service in Vietnam and whose son served in Afghanistan and Iraq, released the following statement today in reaction to Rep. Steve LaTourette's vote against the Responsible Redeployment from Iraq Act.
"Back in January, Steve LaTourette said he would 'welcome a fresh approach' in Iraq, but yesterday he once again failed to approach Iraq in any way but towing the president's line.
"On a day when even the White House admitted the benchmarks in Iraq were not being met, the people of the 14th district deserved more than LaTourette's tired, worn-out rubber stamp. Our troops have served their country bravely, and they deserve leadership from their member of Congress."
